Get Happy!

I just made myself happy. I simply changed my mind. Now, you probably never do this, but sometimes I let my mind wonder down the stupidest paths. I start to think, "Oh my house is always such a mess" which leads to " I hate my house". Or I think, "I am always so tired, I never get anything done that I want to." Which leads to, "Life sucks, poor me." As you can see, these are not helpful paths. The good news is, with the help of the Holy Spirit and my husband:) I have started to recognize these fruitless paths much sooner. Some might call this, "Thinking on the bright side." Actually it is a matter of choosing which truth I will focus on. My house may be a mess, yes, but praise the Lord I have a house! I may be tired and not get much accomplished, but how wonderful to be tired because my days are so full of life and love! And just in case you don't have a house or your days aren't full of life and love, here is some more great news that should make you happy:
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Eph 2:4-10
Now if that there isn't a reason to get happy, I don't know what is. What a gift we have been given!
And just when I was feeling like I hadn't done much I found these pictures to remind me of a few of our fun Christmas festivities:
Singing Happy Birthday to Jesus
Going for a carriage ride downtown
Going to have breakfast with Santa
Gingerbread houses at the Davenport
So, overall, I would say that life is pretty good. The only thing that could make me happier is wearing my penguin pajama pants.... off to the dressing room I go.
