Mud Room!

It is pretty exciting to be married to a contractor. Today he ripped off the side of our house. This is messy business, but Titus informs me that you have to deal with a little mud to get a mud room. This is our bathroom floor from today:
Joe's filthiness is not clearly evident in this photo, but I promise, he was FILTHY. At lunchtime we passed out chicken nuggets and operated on the premises that 'God made dirt, so dirt won't hurt'. I looked away. Joe was so excited about the freedom to get dirty, that he rolled his head in the dirt. I truly hope he got that out of his system.

So, where there once was a back porch there is now a muddy, open space, with a giant trench running around it where the footings will go. It looks like it would make a great moat for a back yard, but I don't think that would be very child friendly.

The plan is that we will be building a long awaited mudroom, complete with washer, dryer, toilet, pantry storage and cubbies! Yay!. After having boys and working men tracking mud through my kitchen floor on a daily basis, this is a thrilling proposition.

It is really great to watch the boys working with their dad. I love how they are learning to enjoy working from a young age. It is an amazing blessing, one that has been passed down through the generations in our family. It is great to see it continue. (Not to mention that I got to escape for some solo shopping. Grocery shopping sans children seems like a pleasure trip.)
Here Titus is after having dropped our porch roof:
Joe's response to watching Titus demo the porch was, "Dad, you're kind of destroying the house."
